  • Brief description of the content of the course:
    • Student design teams begin an academic year long capstone design project under the supervision of a faculty advisor. Each team may undertake a different project and will build a team, determine design requirements, perform detailed planning, identify project needs and establish goals leading toward the successful completion of the project. Periodic design reviews and reports, applications of engineering skills, project management and formal presentations are major components of the program.
    • Successful completion of the project requires the application of electronics, applied physics, numerical computation, signal processing and other electrical engineering techniques to real-world engineering problems.

    • Prerequisite: EE 382 (Introduction to Design)

    • Students will demonstrate the ability to identify relevant topics from earlier courses, and then apply them to their design project.
    • Students will demonstrate the ability to critically evaluate designs using engineering criteria and predictive usage.
    • Students will demonstrate the ability identify and specify design requirements from general problem descriptions within the applicable realistic constraints.
    • Students will be able to systematically develop a design from the problem statement to a detailed proof-of–concept design that meets all the specifications.
    • Students will demonstrate their ability to clearly communicate design ideas and information
    • Students will be able to work collaboratively and responsibly as a team
    • Students will demonstrate the ability to facilitate their learning by identifying design issues and questions that require additional investigation beyond their basic undergraduate curriculum knowledge then formulate the appropriate course of action.
