August 2021

The Center for Graduate Studies would like to welcome everyone to a new semester at NMT. We wish you a good productive semester. We understand that the past year has been really hard for everyone, and unfortunately, we still have some challenges that we have to deal with this semester due to the continued pandemic. We are confident that with everyone working together as one community we will be able to overcome these challenges. We are here to help and support you so please don't hesitate to contact us if you have any questions or concerns. We encourage everyone to follow all rules posted on the NMT's COVID-19 webpage and keep in mind that things change on a regular basis as we adapt to new information, so please check the page regularly. Again, we are in this together and we will overcome it together.

Student Profile

Graduate Student from Earth & Environmental Science

Kyle Stark

Kyle Stark is a PhD student in the Earth and Environmental Science department. His research focuses on flash floods in the Arroyos of New Mexico. During monsoon season, heavy rains flood parts of the Quebradas (east of Socorro). When this happens, he races to the flooding Arroyo and measures how the flowing water changes the landscape. Outside of his research, Kyle has served in various roles in the Graduate Student Association (including president from 2017-2019) and E&ES departments. He enjoys exploring New Mexico with an eye towards rivers and water. If you see him around campus, don't be afraid to say hi!
