harman/kardon 19.5 Speakers

One day I was just sitting there in my dorm room listening to some mp3s on my Klipsch Promedia V.2-400 system and surfing eBay looking for cool stuff I might want to buy. After searching for "speakers" under "Computers" on eBay, I came across a small set of speakers. The auction was about to finish and the high bid was $4.99 (shipping was $9.00). I had heard of harman/kardon and knew they had a good reputation. So I bid $5.00 and won.

After a few days, a small package arrived. "harman/kardon" was printed on the side, my little $14.00 speakers had arrived. My friend Matt and I went to my room and unpacked the small box. The speakers were brand new and had been originally shipped with a new Dell computer. Immediately, I noticed that they were very quality made. Looks like I had done pretty well for $14.00.

I placed them next to my Klipsch Promedias, unplugged my Klipsch and plugged in the little harmon/kardon system. I fired up Winamp. The idea "Lets see how they sound and what they will handle" came over us. After a few seconds of adjustment, the little speakers were off and running. About that time, my roommate stood up on the other side of the room to see what exactly Matt and I were doing. I think the first words out of his mouth were "You paid how much for those?". We all gathered around the small speakers in awe. Looks like I had done really well for $14.00.

After getting over our awe of the small speakers; I dropped in the Matrix on dvd, jumped to the lobby scene, cranked the little speakers and stood back. These little speakers were pumping out sound so loud and so accurate that we were almost in denial. These small $14.00 speakers sounded great. The have an awesome soundstage, great frequency response for a 3" full range driver and all the volume you could ever need. We were all truly impressed.

Since that day, I have purchased around 10 sets off eBay. Most were for friends and co-workers. One set sits on my desk at home. And a black set is sitting here playing music while I write this at my office. Many may ask why I would spend the time to write this acticle. I would say that I wrote it out of respect for these small but kickass speakers.
