Homework Assignment 4
Due Sept. 19, 1997

  1. A two-wire transmission line has 0.05 inch spacing between wires and the wires have a diameter of 0.02 inches. The insulating material is teflon, and the wires are copper. A 10 MHz signal is transmitted down the line.
    1. Find R', C', L', and G' for this cable.
    2. Find the characteristic impedance of the cable.
    3. Find the speed and wavelength of the signal on the cable.
    4. How far can the signal go down the cable until its amplitude is reduced by one half?
  2. Problem 2.8 from the text.
  3. Problem 2.9 from the text.
  4. Problem 2.11 from the text.
  5. Problem 2.13 from the text.
