Objectives for EE322, Part 1, Voltage regulators and power supplies

We will cover chapter 6 in Horowitz and Hill

The educational objectives for this part (the lectures, homework, labs and test will all be directed toward achieving these objectives) are:

  1. Comprehend spec sheets for regulators and power transistors.
  2. Apply standard techniques to choose the proper heat sink for a component.
  3. Apply good grounding techniques in system design.
  4. Analyze each section of a basic power supply.
  5. Analyze the wave forms in a switching power supply.
  6. Analyze the effect of loads on a power supply.
  7. Design a basic regulated power supply.
