Prelab 3: Sine Waves and the Oscilloscope
1. What is the relationship between peak-to-peak, Vp-p,
amplitude, Vp, and root-mean-square, Vrms
values?
2. Find the node voltage measured at the node
labeled Channel 2 in figure 2 of the lab in terms of the
source voltages v1 and v2.
3. For a circuit like the one shown in figure 3 of the lab,
v1 = cos(2p(1000)t), R =
10kW, C is unknown and vo is
delayed with respect to v1 by 0.1ms. Find (assuming
circuit is in steady-state):
(a) The phase shift between v1 and vo
in radians and degrees,
(b) The value of C for this circuit, and
(c) The expression for vo.
