A little about the electrical engineering department
The electrical engineering department was founded in 1991 and has become one of the largest academic programs at New Mexico Tech. We have 8 full time faculty with research interests that range from lightning to optics. Support is handled by a pair of staff members that keep things rolling along smoothly. The faculty, research labs and main office are located on the second floor of Workman Center, and the lab classrooms and teaching labs are located on the first floor. Our typical enrollment is about 150 undergraduate and 10 graduate students, with a graduating class of anywhere from 15-30.
About the photo: New Mexico Tech just happens to be a favorite location for Mythbusters. Many of their explosives based myths have been tested here at the EMRTC, the Energetic Materials Research and Testing Center, a research division of NMT. Being an electrical engineer, Grant Imahara stopped by our department to talk with some of our faculty in 2011.
