Assignment #1

Write a survey paper on coordinated behavior. Possible items include:

general directions,
challenges (communication, computation power, time constraints, sensor data, cost, etc.),
multi-agent systems,
centralized vs. decentralized control, and
applications.

Discuss how some of these techniques may be applied towards your project and propose a high-level illustration of the possible individual subsystems and their interactions.

Each team must include at least 4 references to refereed journal or conference papers.

Assignment #2

Write a paper on low-level control of two-wheeled platforms. Possible items include:

open vs. closed loop control,
feedback data (e.g., what kind of sensor data),
different types of controllers (P, PI, PD, PID),
continuous vs. discrete, and
real-time constraints.

Discuss specific ways of designing and implementing a controller for your specific project.

Each team must include at least 4 references to refereed journal or conference papers.
