Assignment #1

Write a survey paper on autonomous navigation. Possible items include:
  1. general directions,
  2. survey of techniques.
  3. challenges (communication, computation power, time constraints, sensor data, cost, etc.).
Discuss how some of these techniques may be applied towards your project and propose a high-level illustration of the possible individual subsystems and their interactions.

Each team must include at least 4 references to refereed journal or conference papers.



Assignment #2

Write a paper on how you plan to use some of the techniques you surveyed in the previous assignment in your project.

Each team must include at least 4 references to refereed journal or conference papers.



Early Milestones

  1. Assemble robot and test with H-bridge
  2. Initial design intentions: central control, sensor subsystems, power, etc.
  3. Initial test of control system. Use a control unit to have the robot go in a square
  4. Down selection of sensors.
  5. Sensor integration and testing.
  6. Complete prototype testing and evaluation
